Paper, everything in life has paperwork attached to it. However some things are worth the paper work, even photo paper work if you will. Things such as cherished memories of holidays, occasions and loved ones, and maybe for target practice not so much loved ones. In our range of paper we cover photo matte, duo photo matte (you can print on both sides with the same results) photo gloss and some speciality papers such as canvas effect paper. So there's a finish to suit all needs depending on how you’re going to display your photograph.

All paper is measured in gsm (grams/ per square meter) the higher the number the thicker the paper.
With this in mind imagine photo paper is like a kitchen paper towel, it will only hold so much liquid before seeping through. OK that's slightly over the top for an example but the same applies to all paper. If you want to print a landscape for example, there will be a lot of ink so a heavier weighted paper would give a better result than a thinner paper. The other side of this is that say you want to print a portrait then a thinner paper would fit the bill nicely as there isn’t as much ink used. However there is a caveat to this, depending on the results your after depends on which paper to use.

Canvas Photo Paper Canvas Photo Paper
Photo canvas effect photo paper is fantastic for adding a little something extra to your photos. It adds an element of depth and texture to your photograph.

What I have found with this paper is that it is fantastic for landscape or large groups of people. If you create a close up vignette portrait it doesn't look so good up close. It looks as though the kids have let their matchbox toy cars run through the ink and left tracks on the paper. Then again you might like the effect it's purely a personal thing.
Gloss Photo Paper Gloss Photo Paper Gloss photo paper is shiny; now that we have that out of the way, let’s discuss the paper itself.

An image printed on matte paper and gloss paper will have totally different appearance. For example a dramatic landscape image printed on matte photo paper will have a more impressive appearance than printed on gloss. The gloss coating seems to take away from the impact of drama in an image. Like wise a sunny landscape would look dull and washed out on matte photo paper, but look brighter and have richer colours on gloss photo paper. OK I have to say these aren’t scientific facts and theories, but personal opinion. To see for yourself print a picture on matte and gloss and see which you prefer.
Gloss Resin Photo Paper Gloss Resin Photo Paper
Resin Gloss Photo Paper is, it has to be said, the bee’s knees. The paper offers high gloss finish and a smooth, cockle free surface.

Resin gloss photo paper is best suited to exact photo scenes, which need to have a balance of actual picture output and preservation. Once you’ve got the paper it feels and looks like the pictures you get from a photo processor such as speedy pronty printy photo quick quick print shop (I can’t remember that last time I actually had a film developed)

One other thing about the paper is that because of the resin coating the kids can’t rip it as easily. At least that’s what I discovered when I don’t move the picture quickly enough.
Matte Photo Paper Matte Photo Paper
Matte Photo Paper is a bit of an all rounder where paper is concerned, on one hand you can print letters on 128gsm Matte for example, which is slightly thicker than standard paper and gives a better print appearance (no fuzzy blurry edges on text) and on the other hand you can print photos that give the image an added depth of expression to a dramatic windswept landscape photograph.

Standard Paper Standard Paper
Normal run of the mill paper is fantastic for text documents, not wholly spectacular for photographs. Well you can print photos but wont get the full effect. If you think about a kitchen towel with too much liquid on it, its transparent, limp and easily prodded through. This is why the good and veritable people in paper factories around the globe make us photo matte and photo gloss paper.

If you can think of a better description of 80gsm paper please let me know, I've struggled writing that little bit.
