Guide to minimum memory requirements:
128MB - Basic Administrative use. The minimum recommended for computers today. Light word processing, e-mail, Surfing the internet.
256MB - Medium Administrative use. Word processing, e-mail, Internet, spreadsheets, Databases, small graphics programs, Games, 2 applications open at once. Smallest amount we would recommend for use with Windows XP.
512MB - High Administrative use. Word processing, e-mail, Internet, spreadsheets, fax & comm. software, business graphics, Complex gaming software, 3 or more applications open at once.
1GB - Intensive use workstation. Word processing, e-mail, Internet, spreadsheets, fax & comm. software, presentation software, illustration software, photo editing, font packages and multimedia software, CAD software, CAM software, small servers and 3D modelling and scientific applications.
2GB - Workgroup Server or workstation. 3D modelling, design labs, computational Physics etc or for use in a workgroup server.
4GB - Departmental server or specialist applications. Heavy use multi processor departmental server or specialist scientific applications.
