DVD ROM

DVD-ROMs carry the mantle further on from a CD-ROM by being able to offer backwards compatability. A DVD ROM can and will read a CD disks as well as a DVD disk. They can as a rule read virtually any type of disk, including CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-ROM. Some of the more modern DVD-ROMs can read DVD-RAM disks, we're trying to find some of those.
